the Kaufman Method
My Mission
The word Chiro means hand in Greek. True to the literal meaning of chiropractic, my method is 100% hands on care. There are no drugs, cracks, clicks, elbows, or other tools.
My mission is to share this unique approach to relieving pain and restoring balance to the body through gentle manual therapy of the muscle and fascial system.
My method is noninvasive and based on the fundamentals of anatomy and physiology. It is focused on three areas within the muscle system.
Tension / Spasm
Trigger Points
The Fascial System

FAQ’s
Do you perform manipulations of the spine and joints (cracking)?
No. I have seen the fallout of those practicing in a neurology office. It’s our muscles and fascia that become dysfunctional, symptomatic, and in my opinion, are the actual cause of most misalignments targeted by manipulations.
Is this massage?
No. I do not massage patients. Patients don’t get undressed. Only gentle thumb and finger pressure is used to trigger change within the muscle and fascial system.
How often do I need to see you?
I typically suggest once a week for 4-6 weeks. After that, we will tailor it based upon the results.
How long are your appointments?
First visit is 90 minutes. Please bring records. Follow-up visits are 60 minutes.
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance. They do not value my time, effort, and passion for my work. I can provide billing information. Some insurance plans may cover what I do and will reimburse the patient accordingly.

About Dr. Kaufman
My practice style evolved from my passion for physical fitness and exposure to eastern and western medicine.
I received a B.S. in Health and Physical Education from the University of Delaware in 1997. My love of serving others drew me toward a career helping people on a deeper level. 4 years later I earned my D.C. degree from Life University in Marietta, GA.
Throughout my schooling I was a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. That experience made me think how muscles are directly related to the concepts taught in chiropractic school. Manipulating the spine buried beneath multiple layers of muscles and fascia never made sense to me. So my unique treatment method began to evolve before I even graduated.
I began my career in Philadelphia practicing within health clubs. After four years I left the gym to practice alongside a primary care physician. In 2007, I moved to Arizona and opened Scottsdale Neurology with my brother Seth Kaufman, M.D., M.P.H. His extensive training and expertise in neuromuscular medicine and vascular neurology has a profound impact on how I practice.
One day a patient brought in her friend from California. She invited me to Malibu and I’ve been expanding my practice there since 2016. I teamed up with Corie Tappin, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M. at her wellness center, SoulSpace. We discovered a synergy with our collaboration that provides patients optimal results.
In 2022, I joined The Daily Calm Wellness Center in Malibu to continue my Malibu practice after a 2 year COVID hiatus.
The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.
